Ever wished you could customise your own snack bar?!

This month we discovered Build A Bar, a unique online tool through which you can bring to life absolutely any bar that your heart may desire. You can dream up your bar from scratch or be inspired by the range of popular bars – one of which was featured in some of our March GoodnessMe Boxes! Alex and Zac created “build a bar” with the goal of sharing healthy great tasting, locally sourced ingredients with the wider community in the form of a bar they love. Some of the GoodnessMe Box team customised their own bar this month. Here are their thoughts:

Lara's Nutty Delight

Ingredients:

Cashew Butter, Almond Butter, Pea Protein Isolate, Chia Seeds, Cashews, Peanuts, Organic Brown Rice Syrup,Organic Maca Powder, Crunchy Rice Cereal and Stevia

Nutritional Info: 1 Bar = 40 grams, Calories 189

The Verdict: I am a strong believer in knowing exactly what goes into my body but many snack bars I come across have ingredients that I don’t want in them. When Peta mentioned Build A Bar to me I couldn’t wait to jump online and get creative – the guys have a huge range of ingredients and I loved being able to add superfoods like Maca and Chia to my bar.

Elli's Coco-nutty Delight

Ingredients:

Organic Dates, Organic Peanut Butter, Pea Protein Isolate, Chia Seeds, Organic Shredded Coconut, a Dash of Maple Syrup, Crunchy Rice Cereal and Psyllium Fiber

Nutritional Info: 1 Bar = 40 grams, Calories 171

The Verdict: I am not a huge snack bar lover, they have never really tickled my fancy, I'd much rather some avocado on toast for a snack or an apple with almond butter. However I'm always up for trying new things! I based my bar on my love of coconuts and dates - it was delicious! I enjoyed creating my bar from scratch and getting to pick ingredients I knew I would like. The website was so user friendly and took no time at all! Two thumbs up in my books!

Peta's Tahini Delight

Ingredients:

Tahini, Pepitas, Pecans, a Dash of Maple Syrup, Rice Protein and Stevia

Nutritional Info: 1 Bar = 40 grams, Calories 198

The Verdict: I am constantly trying to seek out snack bars that are sugar free, dairy free and gluten free, it can be difficult to find this combination. When I was introduced to Build A Bar I was over the moon! Finally I could create something that was specific to my dietary needs. My favourite thing about my Build A Bar experience was that as I added or removed an ingredient I could see its exact nutritional value.
